Solid Waste, Recycling, and Yard Waste

 

Service Schedule

The City provides garage door pickup of regular Houshold garbage twice a week, Monday and Thursday. 

“Garage door pickup” includes the retrieval and replacement of containers from a visible location forward of the garage. Due to liability reasons, collection personnel shall not open nor enter behind any gates to access residential refuse. If you have a gate in front of your garage that prevents access to the receptacles you should place them forward of the gate.

  • If you choose to move containers curbside yourself you may do so no earlier than the day prior to the day of collection and such containers shall be removed from view by the end of the day of collection.
  • Lawn debris and heavy trash must always be placed at the curb or roadway near the end of the driveway. 

Trash Collection Rules

  • All trash must be placed in bags not exceeding 40 pounds in weight.
  • Collection is limited to eight bags. 
  • Garbage and recycling cans must be in front of the garage and visible from the street no earlier than the day before collection but no later than 7 AM on collection day and removed from view same day.
  • Construction debris and Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) will not be collected.

Yard Waste

Tree, shrub and brush trimmings must be securely tied to form individual bundles in lengths no greater than 4 feet, weighing less than 40 pounds with no single branch exceeding a maximum diameter of 3 inches.  Bagged (not exceeding 40 pounds each) of grass clipping and/or leaves are collected curbside and have a combined limit of 10 items (bags or bundles) per collection day.

Items Excluded: Excessive amounts of trees, brush or debris, loose limbs or vines, fertilizer

 

Recycling (Thursday ONLY)

Recycling must be contained within the provided 65-gallon receptacle.

Items Excluded: Plastic bags, wet items, glass, Styrofoam

Items Accepted: Newspapers, magazines, envelopes, computer paper, colored paper, corrugated cardboard boxes (flattened and bundled), cereal and soda boxes, plastic bottles, rinsed metal food cans.

 

Heavy Trash (Thursday ONLY)

Items that cannot be reasonably be contained within the resident-provided receptacles, bagged, or bundled must be located at the curb. A limit of one bulk item will be collected per scheduled collection day.

Items Accepted: mattresses, furniture, and appliances. Area rugs must be cut and securely tied to form individual bundles in lengths no greater than 4 feet, weighing less than 40 pounds.

Note: Refrigerators and freezers must be drained of Freon and have a bill to validate such service was performed by a certified specialist. 

 

Holiday Collection

Collection times are adjusted for observed holidays. If the scheduled collection day falls on any of the following observed holidays the normal service will be resumed the next regularly scheduled collection day. Observed holidays are: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
